OUR STORY
DonTalato is a tribute to heritage, craftsmanship, and identity. The name blends two cultures, bringing together “Don” which means granary in Samo, and “Talato”, a name in Mooré, with the merge meaning Talato’s Granary.
Across Burkina Faso and many African countries, the granary is more than storage. It holds a family’s hard-earned harvest, providing protection and security for seasons to come. Each tribe having its own way of designing granaries, making them symbols of both function and artistry. A full granary was a sign of prosperity, abundance, and resilience.
Inspired by this legacy, DonTalato serves as a storehouse of heritage, craftsmanship, and culture. More than a clothing brand, it is a space where artistry is preserved and tradition is carried forward. Just as a full granary once symbolized wealth, DonTalato represents intention, creativity, and legacy.

FOUNDER'S NOTE
I’ve always been drawn to fashion “turning scarves into shirts, planning “heels days” in high school, saving my lunch money to buy new clothes and spending countless hours during holidays in Burkina Faso designing with tailors. Growing up across seven countries, I saw fashion as a way to connect, relate, express myself and tell a story.
In my culture, fabric is more than material. It’s a gift, a tradition, a gesture of love. Because of that, I never lacked cloth to create with. DonTalato truly began in 2017, when friends and classmates started asking me to design pieces for them whenever I traveled home. I didn’t set out to start a brand, but over time, I realized I wanted to create something meaningful something that honored traditions I grew up with.
DonTalato is my way of preserving and carrying forward the artistry of my heritage. It’s a celebration of the weavers, dyers, and artisans who have passed down their skills for generations. More than just a brand, it is a space where tradition meets modernity, where every piece tells a story, and where heritage is embraced.
